KARACHI: Pakistan Denim Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PDMEA) appreciated efforts made by Ministry for Petroleum and Natural Resources providing sufficient energy resources for the industry.

A spokesman of PDMEA said on Monday on the request of the Association, Dr Asim Hussain, Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources tried his best and assured the industry people of improving the supply system of the energy. The industry is facing serious challenges of energy shortfalls causing massive production losses, he added.

In this scenario of energy crisis as a short-term strategy, the PDMEA recommends to allow and open import of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) by private sector with multiple operators enabling a true competition environment in the spirit of free market economy, spokesman said. No monopoly scenario should be allowed by any individual or company as fuel was a source, which should be cheaply and freely available to the entire industry and consumers, he maintained.
